Health Promotion

The Health Promotion Division provides general health education services including: health risk assessment, risk reduction and health intervention services targeting a variety of public health issues and are available through a number of public health venues to best meet the needs of the community.

Why Health Promotion?

Factors contributing to the leading causes of death:

  • Smoking
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Overweight
  • Physical Inactivity
  • Poor Nutrition
  • Alcohol/Drug Use
  • Sexual Choices

Half of the contributors to death are based on biology, environment, and inadequate health care…the other half, like many of those listed above, are unhealthy lifestyle behaviors and are modifiable.
