Family Planning: Clinical Services
Women and men regardless of age, sexual orientation, or ability to pay are welcome at Public Health Family Planning clinics. Our fees are on a sliding scale basis. Medicaid, Plan First!, and other private insurances are also accepted. No one is turned away because they cannot afford to pay. Our friendly and expert medical staff provides confidential medical services to all.

- Emergency contraception - birth control for after you have had unprotected sex

- Yearly check-ups (pap tests, breast exams, STD tests)
- Preconceptual counseling

- Condoms
- Vasectomy (male sterilization)
- Male exams
Services for Teens
- All services listed above
- Teen Education Sessions on birth control options and sexually transmitted infections/prevention
- All services are confidential
- Parental consent is encouraged but not required
Services for Everybody
- Sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing (limited)
- HIV/AIDS testing
- Referrals for pregnancy
- Referrals for medical issues
- Someone to talk to about sexuality issues, questions, and concerns
- Educational sessions
Fees
Fees for services and supplies are based on your household income. Donations are accepted. We also accept Medicaid, PlanFirst!, and other insurances. If you have a fee, a payment is expected at the time of service. Please bring your Medicaid card, Plan First! card, or other insurance card to your appointment.
Annual Exams
Call the clinic for an appointment one month before your yearly exam is due. You will be asked the date of your last menstrual period. You will be scheduled at the most convenient time for you.
New Clients
Call the clinic for an appointment. You may transfer in your last physical exam if it was done in the past year and a copy of the exam and pap test results are sent to the clinic. To transfer records, complete the DHD#10 Release of Medical Records form and give it to your provider.You will still need a clinic appointment but will not need to repeat your pelvic exam in order to receive birth control.

The Pregnancy Prevention and Reproductive Health Services available through the Family Planning Program are funded in part from a Federal Title X grant through the Michigan Department of Community Health and with local funding through DHD #10.
