Why Vaccinate?
We don’t vaccinate just to protect our children. We also vaccinate to protect our grandchildren and their grandchildren. Thanks to vaccines we have eliminated many deadly diseases like small pox. Vaccinations are one of the best ways to put an end to the serious effects of certain diseases.
Payment Options
DHD#10 can bill most insurances to cover the cost of vaccination. Don’t let the cost of vaccines prevent you from receiving vaccination. DHD#10 uses a sliding-fee scale for the cost of vaccine administration.
DHD#10 can bill the following: Medicare*, Medicare Advantage Plans*, Medicaid, Medicaid Health Plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network**, Priority Health, McLaren Commercial, Molina Marketplace, ASR, Aetna, Health Alliance Plan (HAP), United Health Care, and TRICARE with an insurance card present at the time of appointment. DHD#10 cannot bill all insurance plans. Please ensure DHD#10 is within your network. It is important to be aware of your insurance benefit rules.
*Medicare can only be billed for Flu, Pneumococcal, or COVID-19 shots.
**Excludes Mercy Partnered Plans.
Adults
If you’re an adult without insurance, or your insurance doesn’t cover vaccines, you may still be eligible for important immunizations at little or no cost. District Health Department #10 participates in a publicly funded vaccine program that provides a limited number of vaccines for adults 19 years and older who meet the criteria.
Children
The Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program provides vaccines to children whose parents or guardians may not be able to afford them. This helps ensure that all children have a better chance of getting their recommended vaccinations on schedule.
A child is eligible for the VFC Program if he or she is younger than 19 years of age and is one of the following:
- Medicaid-eligible
- Uninsured
- Under-insured
- American Indian or Alaskan Native
Children whose health insurance covers the cost of vaccinations are not eligible for VFC vaccines, even when a claim for the cost of the vaccine and its administration would be denied for payment by the insurance carrier because the plan’s deductible has not been met.
Sensory-Friendly Clinic Rooms
Sensory rooms provide DHD#10 staff with a quiet, calming space to see clients. Sensory rooms reduce noise, remove bright lights, and can have a calming and therapeutic response that is beneficial to children and/or adults receiving immunizations. Clients and families with sensory-related needs can request the sensory rooms while making their appointment with DHD#10. Clients can also complete their paperwork in the sensory rooms, giving them more time to adjust before the appointment. After receiving their immunizations, clients can request extra time to remain in the sensory room if desired.
